American Federation of Teachers Massachusetts, the state affiliate of the AFT is a union of professionals that champions fairness; democracy; economic opportunity; and high-quality public education, healthcare and public services for our students, their families and our communities. We are committed to advancing these principles through community engagement, organizing, collective bargaining and political activism, and especially through the work our members do.
Boston Teachers Union
The Boston Teachers Union proudly represents 5,500 teachers and other education professionals including nurses, psychologists and guidance counselors. In addition, the union represents approximately 1,000 paraprofessionals, close to 500 substitute teachers and 3,300 retired educators.
Boston Student Advisory Council/Youth On Board
Youth on Board co-administers the Boston Student Advisory Council with the Office of Engagement of the Boston Public Schools. BSAC is a citywide body of elected student leaders representing most BPS high schools. BSAC organizers work to identify and address pertinent student issues, thereby putting students at the center of the decisions that affect them the most. BSAC acts as the student union of the district.
Citizens for Public Schools
Citizens for Public Schools is a Massachusetts-wide advocacy organization representing students, parents, educators and others committed to strong, democratically accountable public schools. CPS promotes education of the whole child by fighting for adequate funding and racial justice and against school privatization and the overuse and misuse of standardized testing.
The National Center for Fair & Open Testing (FairTest) advances quality education and equal opportunity by promoting fair, open, valid and educationally beneficial evaluations of students, teachers and schools. FairTest also works to end the misuses and flaws of testing practices that impede those goals.
Massachusetts Jobs with Justice
Massachusetts Jobs with Justice is a coalition of community, faith, and labor groups that works statewide to promote workers’ rights, immigrant rights, the fight for public education, and other issues of racial, social, and economic justice.
Massachusetts Teachers Association
MTA represents 110,000 members in more than 400 local associations throughout Massachusetts. We are teachers, faculty, professional staff and education support professionals working at public schools, colleges and universities across Massachusetts. The MTA is the state affiliate of the National Education Association.

PHENOM unites students, faculty, staff, alumni, and others from community colleges, state universities, the UMass campuses, and the broader community to build a long-term movement for affordable, accessible, and well-funded public higher education in Massachusetts.
